Paola Muñoz Manuguián
(recorder)

Paola Muñoz holds recorder studies in Santiago de Chile, Barcelona and Lyon. In 1999, she studied contemporary music performance under the supervision of Antonio Politano at the Conservatoire of Lausanne, Switzerland. She also holds a Master in Performance of 20th Century Latin American Music (University of Cuyo, Argentina).

In Europe, she was part of 9dN Contemporary Music Ensemble, where she developed different approaches to musical creativity: from free improvisation and collective creativity to performances with electronics.

In 2004, back in Chile, as a result of a collective research, she published the book Nueva Música para flautas dulces I (New Music for Recorders I), involving six pedagogical micro pieces for ensembles composed by Cristian Morales Ossio . A year after, she recorded Al aire interrogado, a CD including works for recorders and electronics and three improvisations acting as interludes.

Paola has constantly developed research projects for the Helder and Paetzold recorders, and collaborated with different composers and performers. As a result of these endeavours, in 2016 she recorded the CD Matters of fact (recorder, voice and guitar). She also participated in the ensemble Taller de Música Contemporánea in Santiago. Currently, Paola and the flutist Karina Fischer (Movimento Parallelo duo) are recording a new CD that includes pieces emerged from collaborations with Latin American and Italian composers.

Paola has been awarded several fundings from the Chilean government oriented to the promotion of arts and culture.

Among other projects, these fundings have allowed her the creation of the portal for the dissemination of Chilean music for recorder.
